The Eternal Flame Burns Bright: First Annual Shane McConkey Golf Tournament a Wild Success
TRUCKEE, CA — The Shane McConkey Foundation is thrilled to announce the resounding success of the first annual Shane McConkey Eternal Flame Golf Tournament, held this July in true McConkey fashion—costumes, chaos, and a whole lot of community love.
Hosted at the Tahoe Donner Golf Course, this one-of-a-kind tournament brought together extreme sports legends, local heroes, friends, and families to honor Shane’s legacy with laughter, bold drives, and irreverent flair. From ski boots on the green to flamethrower golf carts, the event was a perfect reflection of Shane’s signature blend of passion, fun, and fearless individuality.
Raising Funds, Raising Spirits
The Eternal Flame Tournament raised vital funds for the Shane McConkey Foundation’s youth and environmental programs, including the annual EcoChallenge, which supports student-led environmental action across the globe.
“We wanted this to be more than a fundraiser—we wanted it to be something Shane would’ve loved,” said Sherry McConkey. “This day was pure joy, and we’re so grateful to the amazing community who came out to celebrate and give back.”
Winners, Weirdness & Wig-Outs
Participants didn’t just compete for best score—they went head-to-head for best costume, most creative team name, and weirdest golf cart mod. With flaming putters, ski-themed tees, and live music fueling the day, the Eternal Flame Golf Tournament lit a spark that will keep burning for years to come.
