A Hilarious, High-Flying Tribute: 2025 Pain McShlonkey Classic Raises $10K for Local Causes and Crowns New Snowblade Champions
PALISADES TAHOE, CA — On Saturday, March 22, snowblades were sharpened, retro onesies zipped, and egos left at the top of KT-22 for the 2025 Pain McShlonkey Classic—the greatest ski competition known to HUMANKIND.
Held annually at Palisades Tahoe, the Pain McShlonkey Classic is a full day of chaos, camaraderie, and costumed competition in honor of legendary skier and prankster Shane McConkey. This year’s event once again brought together pros, amateurs, and die-hard fans for the Hot Dog Downhill, DJ sets, epic après-ski vibes, and a $20,000 gear giveaway.

A Day of Laughs with a Lasting Legacy
Beyond the mayhem, the McShlonkey Classic raised $10,000 for Sierra Community House, continuing a tradition of giving back. Since its inception, the event has donated over $1 million to 50+ nonprofits including Protect Our Winters, Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe, Scotty Lapp Foundation, and the Shane McConkey EcoChallenge.
“This event captures Shane’s wild energy and his big heart,” said Sherry McConkey. “It’s all about fun, community, and doing good—exactly how Shane lived.”
About the Gear Giveaway
This year’s $20,000 Gear Giveaway was one for the books, thanks to generous donations from 40+ incredible brands including Line Skis, Smith Optics, Stio, RMU, Jones Snowboards, Goggle Soc, Alibi Ale Works, Phunkshun Wear, and Sweatsedo.
Attendees scored everything from snowboards and skis to sunglasses, projectors, and even wakeskates. Big thanks to our sponsors for keeping the stoke high and the gear flowing.
